ERC led the team delivering plastic value chain analysis and the development of a 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) strategy for the Palestinian Occupied Territories of Gaza and the West Bank. The work involved primary data collection (key informant interviews, questionnaire and workshops), a review of existing national/local policies and projects and a review of relevant international and regional best practices.

This enabled the development of a needs assessment and plastic value chain analysis (PVCA). This was supported by a stakeholder engagement process which involved a series of meetings and interviews with key informants including the Ministry of Local Government and other public and private sector representatives, including plastic recycling businesses. The strategy proposes a series of recommendations and interventions to deliver good governance and to support progress in delivering the 3R Strategy  and to reduce the long-term liability associated with plastic pollution.
